A workshop focused on the Future of EUGLOH Research Management recently took place at Universidade do Porto. Participants from the EUGLOH universities were invited to discuss research management structure and worked together to develop an integrated strategy for our Alliance.
The event, co-organised by Universidad de Alcalá, Université Paris-Saclay and the host, aimed at enhancing alignment and integration of the Research Management services and resources among EUGLOH partner universities.
The workshop was articulated around different sessions dedicated to analysing EUGLOH research management services, identifying collaborative opportunities, designing flexible organisational structures, addressing staff upskilling needs and maximising existing resources while seeking additional funding.
Research Managers from the nine EUGLOH universities also had the opportunity to review the past, present and future of their profession as well as its main challenges. The experts José Santos, Rita Gil Mata, Cristina Oliveira and Luis Silva shared their experienced visions of the steps taken in the past years at the E.U. level and of the upcoming actions regarding Research Management in the next European Research Area policy agenda.
At the end of an intense week of collective work, the participants had acquired a comprehensive understanding of the participating universities' research management structures, contributed to the development of an integrated strategy for EUGLOH's research management services, and reflected on the establishment of a cross-institutional support system for the entire lifecycle of research projects.
The workshop ultimately highlighted the key role that Research Managers are called to play for a vibrant EUGLOH research dimension.
